Shark's Tooth Has Plenty of Bite

You can't talk about the sumptuous community of Wild Heron without looking right into the the teeth of its most potent asset, the Greg Norman-designed Sharks' Tooth golf course. A private members-only club, it is the centerpiece of the Wild Heron community.

Shark's Tooth has been a winner since it opened in 2002.

Furthermore, the course is the only private signature layout on the entire Emerald Coast. With majestic live oaks and loblolly pines coupled with acres of preserved wetlands, Shark's Tooth has been earning awards ever since in opened at No. 2 on Golf Digest's “Best New Private Club” list in 2002.

Shark’s Tooth winds around the shores of Lake Powell, designated “Outstanding Florida Water,” and the state’s largest coastal dune lake on the Gulf of Mexico. The picturesque 18-hole course plays 7,204 yards from the back tees and 6,511 to 5,791 from the forward tees.

Lake Powell borders five fairways.

Five fairways border Lake Powell, two holes play toward the water and numerous wooden cart-path bridges pass over wetlands and estuaries, making it, according to a review in Golf Digest, “one of the most scenic, 18-hole settings in Florida.”

Its good looks also serve a higher purpose. Shark’s Tooth has gone to great lengths to protect sensitive natural habitat, earning Audubon International’s Silver Signature Sanctuary designation. Very little earth was moved during the course’s construction, preserving the natural beauty and integrity of the site.

Amenities
Prospect Point, located at the heart of Wild Heron, is the hub of gathering at Wild Heron. A boat house sits near the water's edge filled with kayaks and canoes, and is a popular place to survey the lake.

The Health Club features cardio equipment (treadmills, bikes and stair climbers), dumbbells and weight equipment with a spectacular view of the coastal Dune Lake.

The Boat House comes fully equipped with kayaks and canoes.

The neighborhood swimming pool provides a smart design with a variety of alcoves and shade corridors. Tots pool and hot tub also included in this area.

A fire pit located by the lake seats up to 20 people around a fire for evening gatherings and storytelling.

Situated on the world-famous beaches of the Northwest Florida Gulf Coast, the Beach Club is mere minutes away from Wild Heron. This members-only club hosts a cafe, swimming pool, dune walk-over, changing rooms, rest rooms, and a partially shaded sun deck.
